Hotel Azucar in San Rafael, Mexico is a great little resort with 20 bungalows, each with a private terrace. The interior decoration is basic but very stylish. Much of the furniture is made of driftwood that was collected on the beach.

Bungalows feature thatched roofs and private terraces overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, each with its own locally made hammock for naps or reading sessions cooled by the sea breeze.

Public spaces are mainly open-air, including the library with wicker seating and a thatched ceiling as well as a spa area with a yoga space and a full range of spa offerings.

Azucar is the perfect place for those in need of a quiet sanctuary. Take a nap or do some reading: the beautiful outdoor library is filled with books, perfect for some reading by the pool or beach.
